Bowen treatments

Each treatment is tailored to your individual needs and uses only the amount of pressure appropriate for your body.

The Bowen Technique focuses on the whole body rather than just specific areas of concern, this allows underlying causes and presenting symptoms to be addressed. For more on Bowen

During a Bowen Technique treatment, there is no manipulation or forced bone adjustments at any time.

A treatment is generally relaxing, as it helps to calm the nervous systems which in turn promotes rest and repair throughout the body.

My treatment room in rural East Devon is situated in a very quiet and restful location between Chard and Axminster.

You should not stop any medication you have been prescribed unless your doctor tells you to do so.

The Bowen Technique will not interfere with any medication you are taking.

How to book an appointment?
If you wish to make an appointment,  please go to the Contact page  and  either phone, email or message me.
When you book your first appointment you will be asked to fill in a confidential client consultation record.

This can be downloaded here.
Please complete this before your appointment and bring it with you. All information you provide at any time is treated as confidential.

What to wear?
The Bowen Technique can be performed directly on the skin or through light clothing.
During your treatments you will covered with towels and, if you wish, a blanket. Bowen moves are difficult to apply through thick material such as jumpers, thick skirts and trousers or jeans.  I may ask you to remove thick items but you will never be asked to remove underwear or slips.

How long does it last?
Your first treatment, which includes a consultation, will be approximately 1 hour (depending on your circumstances) as I feel it is important to get to know you as a person before I am able to treat you. A regular appointment will last for approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour.

How many treatments will you need?
A set of 3 treatments a week apart will usually provide long lasting relief and benefits. Some more serious problems may need more treatments in order to solve the underlying cause.

Long lasting chronic problems may benefit from regular treatments to aid in increased energy levels, pain management and improved general wellbeing.

Many people have follow up treatments every 6-8 weeks or every 3 months for preventive measures, maintenance, to help with stress management, energy levels, when they feel the need for a 'top up' or for a new injury. New injuries usually respond quickly to The Bowen Technique.

Other Treatments
Please do not book an appointment for ANY other physical therapy such as reflexology, physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, etc., within seven days before your treatment or within seven days after your treatment. This is to ensure that your body is not overloaded with information and that it can process your Bowen work without interruption.
Mixing other treatments with The Bowen Technique will undermine the overall effectiveness and limit the possible beneficial responses you may have.
Homeopathy is the only exception to this rule as it works well when combined with the Bowen Technique.
